Why do Android app installations take so long?
You’ve just downloaded the latest version of your favorite Android app from the Google Play Store. Finally, after waiting several minutes, you get the Successfully Installed notification and rush to open the app only to find it still loading…for another 20 minutes! That’s why I wrote this article: to help you find out why Android app installations take so long and how to fix slow Android app installations. Check out my 5 easy tips below that can help make your next Android app installation go much faster than you thought possible!
The 5-minute guide
If you’ve ever wondered why your Android phone takes so long to install an app, you’re not alone. The good news is, there are a few things you can do to speed up the process. These tricks will reduce installation time and make it feel like less of a chore to download apps on your device.
The first thing you should try is clearing the cache on your device by tapping Settings -> Apps -> Downloaded and then tapping Clear Cache or Clear Data (this won’t delete any of your personal data).
Next, go back to Settings -> General -> Storage & USB and tap Cached Data (this will also delete all cached data on this device). You’ll want to wait for all content currently in cache or stored as Cached Data in order for this step to be effective. Finally, restarting your device will clear out any remaining temporary files that may be slowing down the installation process and ensure that apps launch quickly again.
The 7 things you can do
If you’re wondering why your Android app installations are taking forever, there are a few things that could be causing the issue. One common reason is that your device is low on storage space. Another possibility is that you have a lot of apps installed and running in the background, which can slow down your device. Here are seven things you can do to fix slow Android app installations – Clear some room on your phone or tablet by deleting photos or videos.
- Shut down apps running in the background with a task manager.
- Check for updates by going to Google Play > My Apps & Games > Installed tab.
- Uninstall apps you don’t use or need anymore, or clear cache and data from those still installed.
- Make sure your device is plugged into power while installing an app if it’s draining too much battery power.
- Clear data from Google Play Services – Settings > Apps & notifications > Google Play services (gear icon) > Storage (upper right corner) > Clear Data, then restarting the phone before installing any new apps will help speed up the process significantly!
Are there any other problems I should know about?
There are a few things that can cause your Android phone to slow down when installing apps. One is the number of apps you have installed. If you have a lot of apps, they can all start competing for resources, which can lead to a slowdown. Another possibility is that you have a lot of data stored on your device, which can also lead to slowdowns. And finally, if you’re running an older version of Android, it may not be able to keep up with the demands of newer apps.
Does this only apply to Android phones or tablets too?
If you’ve ever wondered why it takes so long to install an Android app, you’re not alone. The problem is that the Android operating system is designed to be very flexible, which means that there are a lot of different ways that apps can be built. This flexibility is great for developers, but it also means that each app has to be individually optimized for each device it’s installed on.
