Where is the delete button on a Mac keybo Apple Community

key trends in gaming sector

I actually mentioned this but removed this when I edited my original post.

I want to use the standard ABC-India layout where this key works normally, as it does for my friends. I suspect that the backslash character is used internally in Word as a control character. I tried to add it to a list of “Do not correct” items in AutoCorrect Preferences, but that had no effect.

Mac with Non-Apple Keyboard

Normally hitting Delete on a Mac will work as a Backspace key. To Forward Delete, normal action of the Delete key on a PC, you have to hold down the fn key and then hit the Delete key. As in Windows the delete key actually deletes whatever is selected all the time. Your old Recovery Key won’t work anymore and you can’t use it to reset your password or access your account. The image was more to show where the key was more than actually being an British keyboard but I do see your point though.I am just sharing what worked for me on a VM machine.

This assumes muscle memory and professional requirements (like coding or command line use) are irrelevant, forcing users to discover a non-intuitive workaround. I want to continue using the ABC-India layout, not switch to the U.S. version because ABC-India includes the Rupee symbol on clicking ALT+4. This problem started after I briefly used an external keyboard that had a physical Rupee symbol on the tilde key. Now, even with a standard keyboard (and on the built-in MacBook keyboard), the system has saved this as the default mapping for ABC-India. Yes, the font name is still Cambria, or Calibri, or Courier New. If there are any Japanese settings in my MS Word, I didn’t put them there myself.

turn on numeric pad on magic keyboard

You don’t need a recovery key to sign out unless the problem isn’t with signing out but you have in fact forgotten your account information. What I found was that the backslash character (\) on my keyboard did not produce a backslash in Microsoft Word— it produces a strange character, like a Y with crossbars. However, the same key DOES produce a genuine backslash in Microsoft Excel (and in this window — see above!). So I conclude that this problem is application-specific. Romanian Standard keylayout also pushed one of these slashes at the next, option level, which is entirely logical as long as the zero and one level are occupied by other chars.

I don’t think the OS version would matter, keyboard layouts almost never change. But the question actually related to using a Danish keyboard to log into a Windows server, and was answered (shift-alt-7) 5 years ago. The forum software sometimes makes it hard to see the entire discussion. A numeric keypad is an extended layout of additional keys, including numbers, to the right of a regular keyboard. The keypad works in different ways, depending on your Mac and the keyboard and app you’re using. Usually you use the numeric keypad to enter numbers, but you can also use it to move the pointer and, in some apps, to move around your document.

how to find the lost recovery key

If you use security questions with your Apple ID, or if you don’t have access to a trusted device or phone number, go to iforgot.apple.com. Then you can unlock your account with your existing password or reset your password. If you lose your recovery key and can’t access one of your trusted devices, you’ll be locked out of your account permanently. Remove the device you no longer wish to use to verify your identity. If you have https://forestarrowcasino.com/ additional devices with Find My iPhone enabled, you can verify them as trusted devices.

You can also get a code directly from Settings on a trusted device. You can sign in to your Apple ID account page and create a new Recovery Key using your Apple ID password and one of your trusted devices. The location of backslash (and any letter, symbol etc.) depends on the active keyboard layout. “you can use your recovery key, a trusted phone number, and an Apple device to reset your password.” You can generate a recovery key on a trusted device signed in to your Apple Account. After you generate a recovery key, you can also follow these steps to update your recovery key and generate a new one.”

Hi, just tinkering my macbook and i have the same problem. I wanna get rid of those email adds which automatically drop down when i open a browser or facebook. I’ve tried to highlight them and i pressed (comd D) but it didn’t work. The Delete key opn Mac does and doesn’t act the same way as the Backspace and Delete keys on a PC.
