What is Dark Mode and why should you use it on your iPhone or iPad?
Dark Mode has been available on Macs for years, but it wasn’t until last year that the feature was finally introduced to iOS devices, starting with the iPad Pro. Dark Mode works in the same way as its desktop counterpart and in fact, allows you to change your device’s theme from light to dark when using certain apps, as well as at all times by default, if you wish to do so. With iOS 13 now available on many iPhones and iPads, here’s everything you need to know about how to enable Dark Mode on your iPhone or iPad!
What Is Dark Mode And Why Should You Use It On Your iPhone Or iPad?
If you love looking at screens late at night but don’t want to disturb others with the bright light, then Dark Mode might be for you. In a nutshell, Dark Mode alters your screen so that its colors are inverted, i.e., white becomes black, black becomes white, red becomes blue and blue becomes red. This new way of looking at things won’t only help reduce eye strain; it’ll also help keep disturbing anyone in the same room. While many people find that using Dark Mode doesn’t seem natural at first, they usually get used to it after a few days. Here’s how to activate this mode: Go into Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations > Color Filters > Zoom (if available)
> Invert Colors
> Turn On (Dark Mode).
How To Enable Dark Mode In iOS 13
If you want to turn off the darkness of dark mode in iOS 13, tap Settings at the bottom right of the screen and then tap General. Scroll down to Display Accommodations where Apple provides a toggle for Invert Colors. The default setting is ON which will enable Dark Mode on your device. You can also change this option to OFF if you don’t want dark mode activated after installing iOS 13. When you disable Invert Colors, an app’s dark mode settings will be turned off. When light colors are inverted to their darker counterparts, the background becomes black while the app’s text becomes white. The opposite occurs when light colors are inverted to their lighter counterparts as the background becomes white while the app’s text becomes black.
Other Features of Apple’s New OS
Apple has revealed that their newest version of the operating system for iPhones, iPads, Macs, etc. will feature a new look for the interface called Dark Mode. One of the big reasons people love this mode is because it can help reduce the amount of eye strain they get from staring at screens all day long. It also helps save battery life when using devices outside during sunny days. With this setting enabled, you’ll find less glare and eye-strain while reading text on screen. When taking notes in class or typing out an email to a professor, it’s much easier to see what’s being typed with Dark Mode enabled as well. To turn on Dark Mode go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations > Invert Colors then toggle Darken Colors ON.
